Hello Everyone,

Our Speaker:  Last week we heard from Sophia Veinoglou about the Heart Failure Clinic that has started at Fairview Hospital.  The primary points to keep in mind for a healthy heart are to monitor your sodium intake, weigh yourself daily to monitor fluid retention, be careful with your medications and stay active.  Sophia approached me at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday to let me know how welcomed she felt by our Club, and to thank the Club for the opportunity to speak.  She mentioned that she would love to come back in the future.

Member News:  Last week we also welcomed Kristina Vaselewski as the newest member of the Club.  Please be sure to introduce yourself to Kristina and make her feel welcome.

Rotary After Hours:  I would like to thank Jess Krupski for organizing our first Rotary After Hours of this year, which was held last Thursday at Castle Street Café.  I understand it was a small, but lively and entertaining group!  Unfortunately, the rain didn’t help with the turnout, and the Fairview Golf Tournament posed a bit of a conflict.  These obstacles have not deterred Jess in agreeing to organize another event in a couple of months.  We will keep you posted on when and where it will be.

Breaking Bread: Breaking Bread will be on September 24th.  Jess Speer-Holmes has emailed a Sign Up Genius to the Club for volunteers for that evening.  Please find her email in your Inbox and sign up to help if you are able.

Club Assembly:  This week is our Club Assembly.  Barbara Manring will be emailing a draft of the Committee assignments for each member to review.  If there are any changes that are needed please let either Barbara or I know.  I will be sharing some changes to our Committees at our meeting.  Alan Glackman is also emailing a proposed budget for members to review in advance of our meeting.  We will be voting on the Budget at the meeting.  We will be hearing from Ed McCormick on the progress of the Holiday Lights Committee, and Ray Murray on the status of the Watson Fund.  We will also be hearing from George Raymond on the People’s Pantry and Hunter McCormick on the YEX Committee.  Lastly, we will be discussing how we can keep our four key fundraisers going, promote Rotary within the community and continue to provide substantial scholarship assistance to our students.  I look forward to seeing everyone and hearing everyone’s input.
